A free fitness camp is being offered to children and adults the week of local schools’ spring break, March 14-16, at the South Panola High School track.
The camp is sponsored by First Community Outreach Ministry Services, directed by Linda Mitchell.
The camp will be conducted by Amaud Mitchell, a former South Panola Tiger who is now a personal trainer in California. He is the son of Linda Mitchell.
Hours for the camp are 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. all three days. On Wednesday, March 16 there will be a 5K walk around the campus.
There is no pre-registration. Interested individuals should just come to the track, Mitchell said.
The purpose, she said, is to help reduce the rate of childhood and adult obesity in Mississippi.
A letter to Mitchell from Gov. Haley Barbour states that the governor commends her organization and wishes her success in her efforts.
