5K run set for April 2 in Sardis

A 5-K run through downtown Sardis will be sponsored on April 2 by the Sardis Chamber of Commerce and the Heflin House Museum. The event is being held in conjunction with the town’s third annual Open Car Show.

The USATF certified race course will pass through Downtown Sardis beginning at the Methodist church, passing by Panola Playhouse,, TriBecca Alli Cafe and Sardis Steak and Seafood Restaurants, the old historical Sardis schoolhouse and older homes in neighborhoods along the way. The course is flat, scenic and fun, said a race spokesman.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Heflin Historical Association and Sardis Chamber of Commerce. The Heflin House was built in 1859 and is today a museum of artifacts and furniture that reflect the life of the pioneers in the 1800 era.
