Fans on both sides have been clamoring and begging for this matchup for years.

The verbal agreement was made between Head South Panola Coach Lance Pogue and Head Hoover Coach Josh Niblett. More information on this agreement will follow when available.

“The Tigers would travel to Hoover in 2011 and play at home in 2012,” said Pogue. “This is the same weekend that we played Colquitt, Ga.”

Hoover is ranked No. 1 in Alabama with an undefeated record of 12-0 and No.15 nationally. They are playing Clay-Chalkville tonight in the quarterfinals in AHSAA 6A action. They have won eight Alabama state champions, six this past decade 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2009.

Comparing present rankings between teams, the Tigers are ranked No. 2 in USA Today while the Buccaneers are No. 11. Max Preps has the Tigers ranked No. 2 and Buccaneers No. 8. Rivals has the Tigers No. 1 and Hoover No. 4 and ESPN has the Tigers at No. 3 and the Buccaneers at No. 9.

As time goes on, Pogue said there might be some other non-divisional changes made but the division games will stay the same.

Pogue said, “There will be a great chance that the game will be on one of the networks but it will be in the spring before anything will be concrete on that.”
