The hotly contested Panola sheriff’s race is the poll question on The Panolian Web site, Panolian.com.

The poll is soliciting votes for sheriff from Internet users. The sheriff’s candidates are Noel Aldridge, Dennis Darby, Otis Griffin, Phil Herron and Richard McCarty.

The sheriff’s poll is unscientific but the Web site allows only one vote from a computer during a 24-hour period.

Voting began at 5 p.m. Thursday and will run through 5 p.m. Friday.

Results of the poll will be published Nov. 2., Election Day, in The Panolian.
