By Billy Davis

A Finch-Henry Job Corps student, who had returned to the campus after a weekend away, was found with a loaded nine-millimeter pistol Sunday.

A Batesville police report identified the student as Jibri Odom, 21, of Port Gibson.

A Job Corps staffer, who was talking to Odom, noticed that he was concealing something inside his pants, according to the report from BPD Lt. John Miller.

Asked by the staffer to produce the item, the student handed over the pistol, which was loaded with six rounds, according to the report.

Odom, who is now in jail, faces a felony for possession of a firearm on school property.

Among its weekend reports, Batesville police also arrested a job corps student for possession of marijuana.

Justin Richardson was arrested for possession of marijuana–less than one ounce.

Richardson was observed entering a car and exiting a short time later. He was then searched, per campus policy, by a staffer.

BPD patrolman Shelby Singleton filed the report.
