Colquitt County, Ga.

The 6-0, 215 pound senior is No. 2 in this week’s excellent 25 on Maxpreps.

Griffin surpassed the 1,000-yard mark on the ground in the game against Olive Branch. He has 1,095 total yards on 16 carries and 16 touchdowns in six games.

“It’s a great honor for Qyen,” said Tiger head coach Lance Pogue. “I know he’ll be the first to say it’s a team honor.”

“This award means a lot to me and I didn’t think I was going to get it but all of the hard work helped me,” said Griffin. “I’m just glad that I got it. Working hard through the sweat and during the summer in 100 degree weather paid off.

“I didn’t do it alone though,” Griffin continued. “My offensive line helped me out. If it hadn’t been for them, I wouldn’t have gotten all those yards and National Player of the Week today.”
