James Loyd Fortner
MARKS– James Loyd Fortner, 86, died Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services were Monday at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Dr. Laurie Jones officiated. Burial was in Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
Fortner, born Sept. 5, 1923, in Webster County, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force Serving in WWII and Korea. He was a member of West Marks Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Elizabeth Blumhorst Fortner; two daughters, Carol Ann Waller of Marks and Sharon Wright of Memphis; one son, James L. Fortner of Marks; two sisters, Frances Ashby of Cordova, Tenn. and Bernice Ferguson of Vardaman; two brothers, Howard Fortner of Alabama and Bobby Dale Fortner of Memphis; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Ira Price Groner
COURTLAND– Ira Price Groner, 76, died Friday, August 27, 2010.
Services were Saturday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Middleton officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Groner, born Feb. 1, 1934, to the late Selma Magnus and Blanche Johnson Groner, was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and retired from the State of Mississippi Law Enforcement with the State Tax Commission.
Survivors include: his wife, Hattie M. Groner of Courtland; one daughter, Wendy Groner Gregg of Courtland; one son, Kenny P. Groner of Courtland; one sister, Mildred McKinney of Tupelo; one brother, Selma Groner of Taylor; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
COMO– Buford “Bea” Morris Orr, 85, died Thursday, August 26, 2010, at his residence.
Services were Saturday at Como United Methodist Church. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
Orr, born Oct. 1, 1924, to the late Nathan Morris and Bertha Parkinson Morris, was a homemaker and a member of Como United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: her husband, Robert W. Orr of Como; one daughter, Glenda Ann Tingle of Oxford; three sons, Ronald Joe Thornton of Perez Zeledon, Costa Rica, Carl Orr of New Orleans and Robert W. Orr Jr. of Dothan, Ala.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Como United Methodist Church.
