After a comedy of errors in the fourth quarter, North Panola ended up with 40 yards of total offense and a 25-8 loss to the John F. Kennedy Hornets of Mound Bayou Friday night.

The game was tied at eight after both teams scored on their opening kickoffs. It remained tied at eight until 1:10 to go in the third quarter when Mound Bayou kicked a 22-yard field goal and took an 11-8 lead.

The North Panola team fell apart in the fourth quarter with three bad snaps to quarterback Martavious Butler which had him scrambling to chase down the ball and trying to get positive yards out of negative situations.

Butler ended with negative 83 yards of rushing on the night. In the fourth quarter, North Panola fumbled the ball and Bayou recovered after one of the bad snaps. After another one of the snaps, Butler threw an interception.

There were some bright spots for the Cougars. Barrett Loveberry returned the opening kickoff 70 yards to score. Butler connected with Ricky Hunt for the two-point conversion to tie the game at eight with 11:33 left on the first quarter clock.

Hunt scampered 50 yards on 10 carries. Loveberry had 41 yards on six carries.

Butler completed four of 11 passes for 17 yards and threw two interceptions.

Rashad Burdette led the team in tackles with six on the night.

North Panola will be on the road again this week at South Delta in Rolling Fork. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5.

Direction to Rolling Fork: Take Highway 6 in Batesville to Highway 61 in Clarksdale. Go South about 115 miles past Cleveland. Will get to Anguilla and be about 5 or 6 miles from Rolling Fork. Keep going. When at Rolling Fork, take Highway 14 right and go around the loop. Keep curving left and you will past Double Quick and a dry creek. The high school is on the left and the stadium is behind the school.
