ND defeats Tunica; NP falls to Mound Bayou

The second week of football is history for two of Panola County’s football team. North Delta secured a 46-24 win over Tunica Friday night, while North Panola fell to 0-2 in the early season with a 25-8 loss to John Kennedy of Mound Bayou.

North Delta

Tres Brasell had 17 carries, 128 yards and three touchdowns of two, two and 48-yards. Bryan Nickle had 13 carries for 113 yards with a touchdown run of 37 yards. As quarterback he was three for seven for 94 yards and two touchdowns of 67 yards to John Cody Dalrymple and 28-yard pass to Chris Rodgers.

First touchdown pass to Dalrymple was first score of game for 8-0. Rodgers reception made the game 14-0.

Bailey Guckert had a four yard run with 50 seconds left in the game for the final score of the game.

North Delta had 305 yards rushing, 94 passing yards for 395 yards of total offense.

Sy Pritchard had an interception in the first quarter.

North Panola

Both teams returned their opening kickoff and scored the PAT to tie the game at eight with less than 20 seconds ticked off the game clock. That score stood until 1:10 left in the third quarter when Kennedy kicked a 27-yard field to break the tie. North Panola was guilty of two interceptions and two lost fumbles in the last part of the game in which Kennedy was able to score and put the game out of reach.

Barrett Loveberry scored the kickoff return of 75 yards for the Cougars.
