Robert L. Barlow

OXFORD– Robert L. Barlow, 76, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were Friday at Waller Funeral Home. Rev. Travis Montgomery officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park.

Barlow born in Memphis, served as a Private in the United States Army. He was a retired salesman with United Insurance.

Survivors include: his wife, Helen Jo Earnest Barlow of Oxford; three step-daughters, Karen Hoseney of Como, Beverly Earnest of Sardis and Debbie Holden of Como; and three step-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Barlow’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1942.

Betty Sue Little Cox

BATESVILLE– Betty Sue Little Cox, 76, died Friday, August 20, 2010.

Graveside services were held Sunday at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home had charge.

She was a retired medical clerk.

Survivors include: her daughter, Melanie Little Darylmple of Batesville; two brothers, Roland “Snow” Thomas of Brandon and William “Bubba” Thomas of Southaven and two grandchildren, Allie Dungan and Riley Dalrymple of Batesville.

Virginia Beard Duke

COURTLAND– Virginia Beard Duke, 70, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Baptist Memorial-North Mississippi.

Services were Sunday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev.  E.K. Gordon and Rev. Thomas Beard officiated. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Duke, born May 16, 1940, in Panola County, to the late John Henry and Addie Mae White Beard, was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Volney Shan Duke.

Survivors include: one daughter, Cynthia Frederick of Courtland; two sons, Charlie Shan Duke of Courtland and Johnny Mae Duke of Boliver, Tenn.; three brothers, J.W. Beard and Robert Beard, both of Batesville and Thomas Beard of Mexico; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Cynthia Ann Roden

BATESVILLE– Cynthia Ann Roden, 53, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at her residence.

Memorial services were Friday, August 13 at Good Hope Baptist Church. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Roden was a homemaker.

Survivors include: her husband, Carl Roden of Batesville; one daughter, Nena Roden of Dallas, Texas; one son, Johnny Harris of Batesville; two brothers, Michael Parlington and Mark Parlington, both of Fort Worth, Texas and three grandchildren.
