With the exception of Batesville Civic Center Director Roy Hyde, aldermen approved reappointment of current city employees to their positions in an action at their Tuesday, July 20 meeting.
Hyde’s reappointment was postponed pending his relocation to the city.
City officials last year adopted a policy requiring department heads to reside in the county. The residency requirement was to take effect within 12 months, but Hyde received a six month extension. He remains on the job pending reappointment with a change in residency. Hyde has commuted from Memphis since he was hired as director at the civic center.
In public hearings, aldermen ordered a cleanup at 372 Highway 6 West. The order gives property owner Bill Clayton 30 days to complete the cleanup before city crews take on the job themselves.
Aldermen took no action on property at 201 Birch Street after receiving word from the owner that he is preparing to sell it. They ordered a cleanup at 114 Dora Street, allowing the usual 30 days for the property owner to complete it before a city crew does the work.
After discussion of property at 313 Willa Street, the elected officials set a cleanup hearing within 30 days.
Batesville Code Office Administrator Pam Comer said that property owned by Mike Fudge previously targeted at a hearing has been “cleaned up and mowed.”
