Hobbs wins karate grand champion jacket

Austin Hobbs of the Batesville Karate Club and Russell Furr, Jr. of the Quitman County Martial Arts attended the  “Heavy Hitters ’10 “ Tournament in Greenwood on May 22.  This was the final tournament of the Southern Martial Arts Championships and was attended by approximately 150 competitors.

Results were: Russell Furr Jr., first in forms, first in weapons, second in sparring; and Austin Hobbs, first in forms and first in sparring.

Hobbs also won the Grand Champion Jacket for the spring tournament series.
