SP tracksters log better times at district meet

The South Panola track team competed in the district two track meet at Tupelo High School on Tuesday and Thursday returning home with several first place ribbons and advancing several to the north half meet. Also competing in the meet were Tupelo, Starkville and Columbus.

Montez Griffin won first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.42. Griffin entered into the district with a 48.50 time.

Nick Brassell won first place in the 300-meter hurdles with 41.50. His original time was 43.34.

Tony Conner won first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.13. Griffin took second with 22.25.

Tony Conner also took first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.87.

The boy’s 4×200 meter relay first place went to South Panola. The team consisted of Nick Brassell, Pierre Conner, Tony Conner and Montez Griffin with a time of 1.29.36.

Nick Johnson won first place in the discus throw with a distance of 123’08”.

Marcus Henry won second place in the triple jump with a distance of 40’11”. Henry took second in the long jump with a 21’02” distance.

Terrance Lamar took second in the high jump at 6’04” and Brassell was third at 6’02”.

The 4×400 meter relay placed  third with Griffin, Henry, Justin Harrell and Deshun Henderson with a time of 3.38.64.

The top four places advances to the regional meet to be held at Oxford High School Saturday.
