Hugh E. Linder

BATESVILLE— Hugh E. Linder, 82, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services will be held Saturday at First Baptist Church in Batesville. Dr. Robert “Bob” Self and Dr. P.J. Scott will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the church. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Linder, born August 2, 1972, in Spartanburg, S.C. to the late Milton Lee and Vinnie Lowe Linder, was the owner of Dees Store and served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Louvene Dees Linder of Batesville; one daughter, Jan Linder Roberts and her husband, Bob of Cleveland; two sons, David Linder and his wife, Cheryl Kay of Meridian and Dr. Lee Linder and his wife, Stacy Jo of Batesville; one sister, Margaret Linder Campbell of Atlanta and seven grandchildren.

Mary Jane McGregory

BATESVILLE — Mary Jane McGregory, 59, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Cancer Treatments Centers of America in Zion, Ill. She was the wife of Steve McGregory.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Sunday. Rev. Tim Ellis, Rev. Jimmy Hood, Rev. John Davis and Rev. Dick Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

McGregory was born Oct. 11, 1950, in Marks, to William A. Davis of Oklahoma City, Okla. and the late Margie L. Blaker Gant.

Survivors along with her father and husband include:  two daughters, Deletha McGregory Aldridge and her husband, Scotty of Batesville and Delisa McGregory Brown and her husband, Dennis of Batesville; two sons, David McGregory and his wife, Susie and Danny McGregory and his wife, Melony of Batesville; five sisgters, Shelby Jean Green Price of Millport, Ala., Betty Sue Dais Tutor of Batesville, Bonnie Fay Davis Bailey of Enid, Connie Davis Lambert of Melborne, Fla and Janice Gant Baxley of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; one brother, William A. “Bill” Davis Jr. of Batesville and five grandchildren, Tyler, Christopher, Dan, Mitch and Myles McGregory, Lilly Calicchio, Bailey and Steven Aldridge, Jessi, Tate, Landon and Mary Julia Brown.

Chester “Tap” Warren Tapper

BATESVILLE— Chester “Tap” Warren Tapper, 89, died Thursday, April 1, 2010. at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Wells Funeral Home. Hal Johnson and Will Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Tapper, born Feb. 28, 1921, in Pope, to Willie and Sally Cosby Tapper, was retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportation. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Chester Wayne Tapper of Pope; one brother, Elwood Tapper of Southaven; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Chapel Hill Cemetery Fund.
