Geraldine Edwards Collins

COMO— Geraldine Edwards Collins, 76, died, March 13, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cistern Hill Church. Burial will be in Cister Hill Church Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia has charge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Collins and one son, Lucius Collins.

Survivors include: four daughters, Nancy Dandridge of Memphis, Juanita Hill and Verlene Humes, both of Como and Roberta Jio of Gainsville, Va.; three sons, Edward Charles Collins and Larry Ray Collins, both of Como and Barry Wayne Collins of Atlanta; one sister, Effie Lee Vaughn of Como; one brother, Malone Edwards of Como; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Durelle Griffin

BATESVILLE— Jimmy Durelle Griffin, 70, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Father Sam Messina officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park with full military honors. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Griffin, born July 4, 1939, in Tifton, Ga., to the late James Oscar and Mildred Reese Griffin, was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a retired U.S. Air Force pilot having served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include: his wife, Margaret June Yochim Griffin of Batesville; two daughters, Sheila Griffin Brown of Batesville and Reese Griffin Jenkins, both of Batesville; one son, James Damian “Dane” Griffin of Las Vegas; one sister, Jeri Ann Griffin Hanna of Shell Point, Fla.; three grandchildren, Allie Ross Sergi, Jamie Elizabeth Brown and Keifer Austin Jenkins and two great-grandchildren, Phillip Bryan Sergi III and Preston Blake Sergi.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 120 Highway 35 North, Batesville, Miss. 38606.

Michael Lee King

BATESVILLE— Michael Lee King, 49, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Jerusalem M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Eddie Robinson Funeral Home has charge.

Lenard Mosley Sr.

BATESVILLE— Lenard Mosley Sr., 64, formerly of Crowder and Michigan, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Romulus Community Baptist Church in Romulus, Mich. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Wayne, Mich. Penn Funeral Home in Inster, Mich. has charge of arrangements. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge of local arrangements.

Mosley, born Oct. 6, 1945, in Crowder, to the late John G. Mosley and Tressie B. Jackson, was a benefit representative for Ford Motor Company.

Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Mosley of Batesville; five sons, Lenard Mosley Jr. of Southfield, Mich., Terrance Mosley and Tyrone Mosley, both of Atlanta, Rashad Mosley of Inkster, Mich. and Kendall Diggs of Batesville; two sisters, AlGanette Moore of Romulus, Mich. and Brenda Mosley of High Point, N.C.; one brother, L.A. Mosley of Detroit, Mich. and 17 grandchildren.

Ruthie Jane Barnhill Sheegog

BATESVILLE— Ruthie Jane Barnhill Sheegog, 89, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Pope. Rev. Nehemiah Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Pope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Pope. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Sheegog, born Nov. 25, 1920, in Corinth, to the late Luke Barnhill and Frances Patton, was a retired food service worker for South Panola School District. She was a member of Pope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church where she was a deaconess, class leader, stewardess, usher and Queen Esther No. 18 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Pope Homemakers Club and was a conductress.

Survivors include: three sons, Emmitt L. Sheegog of Batesville, Dwayne Sheegog of Pope and Martin K. Sheegog of Kankakee, Ill.; two step-daughters, Cedell Johnson of Pope and Betty Thomas of Memphis; 36 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Curly T. Vinson

BATESVILLE— Curly T. Vinson, 73, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at his residence.

Services were Thursday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Floyd officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Vinson, born March 16, 1936, in Cross Plains, Tenn., to the late Pat and Bessie Birdwell Vinson, was a member of First Faith Baptist Church. He was retired from Chromcraft as a supervisor. He served his country in the United States Army and fought during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Jean Vinson and one son, Harold Nicholson Jr.

Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie “Ann” Stacey Vinson of Batesville; one daughter, Georgia S. Evans of Batesville; three sons, Anthony W. Vinson of Olive Branch, Thomas B. Nicholson of Batesville and Terry P. Vinson of Shelbyville, Tenn.; two sisters, Robbie Vinson Johnson of Nashville and Beth Vinson Stillwell of Old Hickory, Tenn.; two brothers, Jimmy Vinson of Nashville and Sam Vinson of Lebanon, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
