Billy Glenn “BB” Aaron Jr.
COURTLAND– Billy Glenn “BB” Aaron Jr., 52, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at his residence.
Services will be held Thursday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Aaron, born July 19, 1957, in Batesville, to Louise Rutherford Aaron and Billy Glenn Aaron Sr., worked as a truck driver for James Russell Trucking Company. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Vanessa Johnson Aaron; one daughter, Angela Gail Aaron and his mother, Louise Rutherford Aaron, all of Courtland.
Jean Lovett Carter
GREENWOOD– Jean Lovett Carter, 82, formerly of Sardis, died Saturday, March 6, 2010.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Greenwood. Dr. Joe Pate will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home and Wilson and Knight Funeral Home has charge.
Carter, born Aug. 8, 1927, to the late Charles Gray and Thelma Allen Lovett, was a choir member at Highland Heights Baptist Church in Memphis, First Baptist Church in Sardis and First Baptist Church in Greenwood.
She graduated from Treadwell High School in Memphis and attended Blue Mountain College. She worked for the Panola County Sheriff’s Department, the State of Mississippi Welfare Department, the North Panola School System and North Panola Hospital. After moving to Greenwood in 1980, she worked briefly for Short Street Realty.
She was a member of the Greenwood Garden Club and Town and Country Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Lyn Arnold.
Survivors include: her husband of 62 years, Harry Henderson Carter; one daughter, Lyn Carter Arnold of Tunica; one son, Charles William Carter of Water Valley; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Sanctuary Renovation Fund at First Baptist Church, 500 W. Washington St., Greenwood, MS 38930 or charity of the donor’s choice.
Pheobe Johnson
BATESVILLE– Pheobe Johnson, 43, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at North Mississippi Regional Center.
Graveside services were Saturday at St. Peter Cemetery. Pastor Odell Draper Jr. officiated. Eddie Robinson Funeral Home had charge.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Arthur Johnson.
Survivors include: her mother, Minister Maudie M. Johnson; two brothers, Anthony Johnson of Louisville, Ky. and Roderick Johnson of Batesville; three sisters, Vakita Johnson Blackburn, NaTasha Johnson Reeves and Kenisha Johnson Key, all of Batesville.
