Emmett Dean Davis

BATESVILLE­— Emmett Dean Davis, 47, died Thursday, December 12, 2009, at his residence.

Services were Saturday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Pat Ludlam and Rev. Chris Cooksey officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Davis, born March 27, 1962, in Memphis, to the late Hugh Miller and Louise Roberson Davis Jr., was an eletrical techician with Parker Hannifin. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Carrie Ann Cosby Davis of Batesville; two sons, Justin Dean Davis and Rusty Robert Davis, both of Batesville; one sister, Deanne Davis of Olive Branch and two grandchildren, Carrie Anna Davis and Camille Alexandria Davis.

Charlotte Olivia Tewell Hernandez

WARRENTON, Va.— Charlotte Olivia Tewell Hernandez, 60, formerly of Batesville, died Thursday, December 17, 2009, at her residence in Warrenton, Va.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 28 from 2-4 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Ave, Warrenton, Va. where services will be held at 4 p.m.

Burial will be on Thursday, December 31 at 1 p.m. at Arlington National Cemetery. Meeting at the Administration Building at 12:30 p.m entering through Memorial Gate.

Born, Sept. 9, 1949, in Memphis, to the late Oran Thomas Tewell and Evelyn Bernard Tewell, was a 1967 graduate of South Panola High School.  She continued her education at the University of Mississippi, graduating with a degree in education in 1971.  

After a brief teaching career, she found her true calling in the field of finance and budget- an area of expertise that became her life’s calling.  Charlotte built her 30-year federal service career following her husband’s U.S. Army assignments.

It was while working at Fort Devens, Mass. that Charlotte met Alex Hernandez of Waukegan, Ill., a soldier assigned to the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne).  Charlotte and Alex married in December, 1980.

She held federal civil service positions at Fort Devens, Boca Chica Naval Air Station, Key West, Florida; Berlin Army Hospital, West Berlin, Germany; Surface Warfare Officers School Pacific and North Island Naval Air Station, Coronado, California; the Intelligence Material Management Center, Vint Hill Farms Station, Warrenton, Virginia; the On Site Inspection Agency, Dulles, Virginia and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, Fort Belvoir, Virginia from which she retired in September, 2008.

Survivors include: her husband of 28 years, Alexander R. Hernandez Jr. of Warrenton, Va.; one brother,  Terry Tewell of Marion, Ohio and one sister, Patricia Robinson of Palatka, Fla.
