Young Tiger teams split with Lafayette

The ninth grade boy’s basketball team defeated Lafayette 37-15 on December 3 just two nights after Lafayette beat them by two points.

DeAndre Harris led the team with 11 points. Other scorers include Myron Powell, 9 points; Tevis Flowers, 5; Oexavious Poole, 4; Tyler Lee and Eric Booker, 3 points each; and Trevor Walls, 2.

   The Tigers led 19-6 at the end of the first half after a 10-0 start. They shot three of eight from the free throw line.

 Harris, Powell and Flowers each had a three-pointer to help their team.

They improved to 4-1 after this victory.

Jr. Varsity

The South Panola  junior varsity boy’s basketball team fell to the hands of Lafayette in a heart breaker 25-24 last Thursday.

Leading the Tigers in scoring were Chad Rudd and Terrence Twilley with eight points each followed by James Watson with 6 points and Mataras Bobo with 2 points.

The Tigers shot six of eight from the free throw line. They had a 13-12 lead over Lafayette at the half but Lafayette came back and scored 13 points in the second half to the Tiger’s 11.

Leading Lafayette in scoring was D. Blackmon with 14 points.
