Tigers demolish Madison Central
The Tigers are on their way back, as the coaches said on the sideline Friday night.
It was put up or shut up time as the South Panola Tigers pounded the Madison Central Jaguars for the chance to return for an eighth straight time to the state championship game Friday night, December 4.
The Tigers will face Oak Grove to play for the first ever 6A state championship title.
Madison Central came out strong and drove to the Tiger five but fumbled the ball in the end zone. The Tigers got the ball on the 20 and fumbled it back to the Jaguars.
The Jaguars got on the boards first with a 17-yard strike and PAT to take a 7-0 lead.
The Tigers got themselves together and scored 30 unanswered points to lead 30-7 after a field goal by Nolan Parker in the third quarter.
Madison Central scored back to back touchdowns to cut the lead 30-21. Tiger Niklos Brassell hauled in a catch from Lee Self to put the Tigers back into scoring position deep in Jaguar territory. He had two Jaguars on his tail and the ball bobbled three times before he brought it under control.
The Tigers scored the final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a three-yard run by Domonique Carothers and held Madison Central offensively for the 36-21 win.
Game time for the state championship is 7 p.m.
