Dorris Lynn Cain

OXFORD­— Dorris Lynn Cain, 83, died Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Baptist  Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were Wednesday at Sardis Lake Baptist Church. Rev. Kevin A. Crofford and Charles Keel officiated. Burial was in Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Calhoun County. Seven Oaks Funeral Home had charge.  

Cain, born September 19, 1926 in Yalobusha County to the late Doyle L. and Sallie Potts Cain, worked many years at Holley Carburetor as a machine operator in Water Valley. He was a Deacon at the Sardis Lake Baptist Church in Sardis.

He was preceded in death by his wife Geneva Ruth Hollowell Cain.

Survivors include one: daughter, Kay Harmon and her husband, Bill of Batesville; two sons, Jimmy Pratt and his wife Patricia of Water Valley, Michael Pratt and his wife Liz of Banner; one sister,  Margaret Gean of Water Valley; three grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and three step-great-great grandchildren.

Wallace Alton Duffee

BATESVILLE­— Wallace Alton Duffee, 89, died Monday, November 23, 2009, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Duffee, born Dec. 5, 1919 to Edward A. and Mamie Taylor Duffee. He was a retired mechanic with Otis Elevator Company with 40 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Draper Duffee.

Survivors include: one daughter, Cheryl Duffee Fullbright of Oxford and one granddaughter.

Louise Henderson

BATESVILLE­— Louise Henderson, 85, died Friday, November 20, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at New Bethlehem M.B. Church. Rev. Jeffery McMullen will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held today form 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Henderson, born March 24, 1924, in Batesville, to the late Ulyses Henderson and Fannie Tatum, was  a homemaker and a member of New Bethlehem M.B. Church.

Survivors include: four daughters, Ruby Henderson and Betty Henderson of Batesville, Margaret Louise Jones of Oxford and Peggy Sturges of Chicago, Ill.; four sons, Merce Henderson, Danny Henderson, both of Batesville, Larry Henderson and James Jones, both of Chicago; 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

T.J. Lipe

GRENADA­— T.J. Lipe, 82, formerly of Panola County, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Services were Wednesday at Garner Harper Funeral Home. Rev. Lowell Blasingame and Rev. Leonard White officiated.  Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Garner Harper Funeral Home in Grenada had charge.

Lipe, born Sept. 7, 1927, to the late Thomas Jesse Sr. and Hattie Pratt Lipe, was a U. S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict.  He was also a retired employee of Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company and an avid gardener.  Mr. Lipe was a member of Van Dorn Church of Christ.
Survivors include: his wife, Dot Cole Lipe; three daughters, Karen Clayton and husband, Jackie, of Tupelo, Shay Lipe of Brandon, and Angie Lipe of Clinton; one son, Tommy Lipe and wife, Shelby, of Grenada; five grandchildren; and one brother, Thomas B. Lipe of Arcadia, Fla.

Freddie Howard McDougal

ENID­— Freddie Howard McDougal, 49, died Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services were Tuesday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Enid. Marty Evans officiated. Burial was in Pisgah Cemetery. Ray Nowell  Funeral Home had charge.
McDougal, born July 15, 1960, to the late James Worley McDougal and Rosa Lee Morris McDougal, was an employee for Borg-Warner in Water Valley.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Teresa Ware McDougal; one step-daughter, Teresa Lynn Groner Boyett of Enid; one son, Jo Keith McDougal of Ohio; one step-son, Lonnie Price Groner of Enid; one sister; Kay Staggs of Arkansas; three grandchildren, Harley Cole Boyett, Jeremy Layne Boyett and Nocolas Ryan Boyett.

Ida Pauline “Polly” Cox Newton

CHARLESTON­— Ida Pauline “Polly” Cox Newton, 92, died Moday, November 23, 2009.
Services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Bethel Methodist Church in Enid. Burial will be held in Bethel Cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home has charge.

She was a homemaker and former school teacher.

Survivors include: one daughter, Pat Newton Little of Charleston; three sons, Bill Newton of Batesville, Roger Newton of New Orleans, La. and Jim Newton of Charleston; one sister, Thelma Skeahan of Birmingham; one brother, Harmon Cox of Clarksdale; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren
