The North Panola Lady Cougars remain undefeated at 6-0 after downing non-district foe John F. Kennedy of Mound Bayou 68-42 Saturday in the season home opener.
The score was 10-7 at the end of the first. The Lady Cougars turned up the heat in the second quarter.
Recent Mississippi State signee Jenisha “Shaq” Jackson of North Panola scored 10 points in the second quarter to give the Lady Cougars a 29-16 halftime lead. She went to the free throw line and hit four of seven in the quarter. Jackson scored 25 points to lead all scorers for the night.
North Panola outscored Kennedy 19-7 in the third quarter to lead 48-23.
Audrey Taylor led the Lady Cougars with eight points that quarter. She finished the night with 11 total points and eight assists.
Lady Cougar head coach Chris Yancy played his younger players in the fourth quarter and Kennedy outscored them 19-15.
Other scorers include Brittany Patton, 10; Catonya Newsom, 8; Cearea Jackson, 3; Angelica Davidson, Audrea Taylor and Nadashaney Montgomery, 2 points each.
The Lady Cougars are off the rest of the week for the Thanksgiving holiday and will return home Tuesday, December 1 to host Shelby Broadstreet at 6 p.m.
