Play suspended due to pouring rain

As the rain settled to a steady drizzle and the field got wetter and muddier, South Panola Lady Tigers and Brandon slowpitch teams suspended play in the second round of playoffs.

“I don’t know when we will play these games or where,” said Lady Tiger head coach Kim Wilson following the decision.

The first game of the best-of-three-series went to Brandon in a 12-1 win. The Lady Tigers were leading 5-0 in the bottom of the first inning when the field became totally unplayable. Sure Dry was put around the bases in between games, but did little good with the rain still falling.

The North State championship was scheduled to begin today. The state championship match will be played Saturday, October 17 in Jackson. The winner of this series will play Grenada.
