Lady Wave Softball

The North Delta fastpitch softball team claimed back-to-back district championships with a 7-0 district record this year. Lady Wave holds off Marshall for undefeated district season

The North Delta Lady Green Wave fastpitch softball team walked through the district unscathed to claim back-to-back district titles with a 7-0 district record.

The Lady Wave (17-4) will host the north half tournament Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. North Delta has a first round bye and will host the winner of the game between Hillcrest Christian and Carroll Academy or Oak Hill at 10:45 a.m.

North Delta ended the season with a 2-1 district win over Marshall Academy Tuesday night.

Senior pitcher Samantha Massoth pitched a one-hitter until the top of the seventh inning when the Lady Green Wave held a 2-0 lead. Massoth struck out 10 batters, allowing three hits and one earned run, and one walk.

In the top of the seventh, Marshall hit a one-run homer to avoid the shutout.

Junior third baseman Bradi Beard crossed the plate first for the Green Wave. She hit a double to left field to get on base. She advanced to third on a single bunt by catcher Laci DuBravec. A sacrifice fly by Massoth drove Beard across the plate in the bottom of the second inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, senior first baseman Lauren Kimzey singled to get on base. She came home for the second run on a double by Massoth for the final score of the game.

North Delta had seven hits and two earned runs.
