Batesville City Board votes to allow Sunday beer sales

The Batesville city board voted in favor of legalizing Sunday liquor sales in restaurants and off-premises beer sales at Tuesday’s board meeting.

The board voted 3-1 in favor of liquor sales in restaurants from 2 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Sundays. Aldermen Teddy Morrow, Eddie Nabors and Ted Stewart voted in favor, while Bill Dugger voted against the issue. Stan Harrison was out of the room during the vote due to conflict of interest concerns.

The sale of off-premises beer (in convenience stores, grocery stores, etc.) from 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Sundays passed in a 3-2 vote. Morrow, Stewart and Harrison voted in favor; Dugger and Nabors voted against, with Nabors citing a conflict with the legalized hours.
