The red-hot North Delta fastpitch softball team ran its winning streak to nine games in a row with a pair of big district wins on the road against West Memphis, Ark. and defending two-time overall state champion Marshall Academy on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
North Delta (13-3; 5-0) had no trouble easing past West Memphis by the score of 18-0 in three innings. Hillari Plummer led the Green Wave offensively with three hits while Morgan Lawrence and Hastings Neal had two hits each. Mary Jane Morrow retired all nine batters she faced while striking out five to record the pitching win.
The Lady Waves then traveled to Holly Springs and came away with a 12-2 victory over Marshall. Samantha Massoth threw a complete game three-hitter while fanning seven along the way.
Vicki Johnson registered three hits in the win while Plummer, Linsey Hebert, Bradi Beard, Laci Dubravec, and Julianna Morrow all collected two hits each.
North Delta, who is ranked No. 3 in the latest Clarion-Ledger Academy poll, will stay on the road this week with a district matchup against Indianola Tuesday starting at 4 p.m with the Junior Varsity. The Green Wave will then travel to Senatobia Wednesday to face off against Magnolia Heights at 4 p.m with the varsity contest, followed by the Junior Varsity.
