Miss. All-Stars prepare to report for games

The North/south All-Star Basketball game will be held Saturday, July 11 at Mississippi College in Cliniton. The Bernard Blackwell All-Star Football Classic will be held Thursday, July 16 at Mississippi College.

Chasity Kearney of South Panola and Jenisha Jackson of North Panola will participate on the north girls basketball team.

The girls will report Thursday. The football players report Monday, July 13.

Defensive lineman Marjarvin Chapman, fullback Reuben Corley and offensive lineman Jonathan Hardin, all of South Panola, will play for the north football team.

Jackson, better known as Shaq to her teammates, helped lead the Lady Cougars to back-to-back district 3-3A championships in 2008 and 2009. She has scored a 32 on her ACT going into her senior year and is getting looks for the University of Southern Mississippi and other community colleges.

Kearney, 5’11”, led the Lady Tigers to an 18-3 record last season, but they lost in the first round of the district tournament. She averaged 20.3 points per game for 48 percent. She is a 62.5 percent free throw shooter and averaged 8.7 rebounds per game.

Game time for the girl’s basketball game is 1 p.m., followed by the boy’s game.

Numbers have been assigned for the players in the football game. Corey, 6’2”, 220-pounds, will be wearing No. 33 as tightend/running back.

Hardin, 6’1”, 270-pounds, is the offensive lineman at number 61.

Chapman, 6’1”, 292 pounds is a defenisve lineman wearing number 63.

The football game will be played at 7 p.m.
