COVINGTON, Tenn. — Douglas L. Crofford, 44, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. He was the brother of Rev. Kevin Crofford of Sardis.

Services were Thursday at Gateway Baptist Church. Burial was in Forest Hill East Cemetery. Forest Hill Funeral Home East had charge of arrangements.

Crofford was an elevator mechanic and a member of  IUEC No. 30 since 1983. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church and graduated from Gateway Christian School in 1983.

Survivors along with his brother, include: his wife of 22 years, Tina Crofford; two daughters, Cecily and Chelsea Crofford; one son, Troy Crofford, all of Covington; his parents, Leo and Ruth Crofford of Memphis; one sister, Kim Cresswell of Millington; and one brother, Kelly Crofford.

Seretha Patton Daggs

BATESVILLE– Seretha Patton Daggs, 58, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Golden Living Center.

Services were Monday at New Bethlehem M.B. Church. Rev. Larry Patton officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Daggs was born July 17, 1950, to the late Edward Patton and the late Willie Veterine Oliver.

Survivors include: one daughter, Tondra Atkins of Batesville; one son, Dewayne Patton of Glendale, Ariz.; her grandmother, Margaret Oliver of Batesville; two sisters, Edna Richardson of Batesville and Eunice Adair of Des Monies, Iowa; four brothers, Anthony Patton and Ray Patton, both of Batesville, S.L. Patton and Andrew Patton, both of Memphis and three grandchildren.

Cathryn Tracie Belvin Pratt

OXFORD– Cathryn Tracie Belvin Pratt, 32, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, from injuries received in an automobile accident on I-55 near Como.

Graveside services were Monday at Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

She was born June 30, 1976, in San Diego, Calif., to Gerald Belvin of Oxford and the late Cathrine Diane Belvin.

Survivors include: her husband, Corey G. Pratt, formerly of Batesville of Oxford; one daughter, Amelia Renay Alexander of Oxford; one son, Logan G. Pratt of Oxford; her father and step-mother, Gerald and Wanda Cook Belvin of Oxford; one brother, Jerry J. Belvin of Harmontown and her grandfather, Joseph Woodard of Batesville.

Connie Samuels Tubbs

SARDIS– Connie Samuels Tubbs, 89, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at Golden Living Center in Batesville.

Services were Sunday at Ray Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Sardis. Burial was in Cold Springs Cemetery. Hal Johnson officiated.

Tubbs, born Sept. 5, 1919, to the late Luther Samuels and Nora Lenora Osborn Samuels, was a member of the Sardis Church of Christ and a member of American Legion Auxiliary in Sardis. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, I.O. Tubbs.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruby Jean Doubleday and one son, Charles David Tubbs.

Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Ann Perkins of Batesville and Rebecca Joyce Ford of Collierville, Tenn.; one osn, Ira Otis “Odie” Tubbs of Batesville; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Jessie Yates Sr.

BATESVILLE– Jessie Yates Sr., 69, died Sunday, June 21, 2009.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Dickins Funeral Home. Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge. Full obituary information will be Friday’s edition of The Panolian.
