William Douglas “Doug” Henderson

BATESVILLE– William “Doug” Henderson, 88, died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Funeral services are incomplete at this time. Full obituary information will be in Friday’s edition and by viewing www.panolian.com. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Henderson, born May 20, 1920, in Tate County, to the late Iverson Floyd and Wilma Casey Henderson, was a retired civil service employee. He served as staff sergeant in the United States Air Force during WWII where he was a prisoner of war for 13 1/2 months. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Dix Henderson.

Robert “Bob” Lewis Cosby Sr.

COURTLAND– Robert “Bob” Lewis Cosby Sr., 75, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at his residence.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Cosby, born Nov. 1, 1933, to the late Johnnie William and Leslie Loraine McMinn Cosby, was the owner of Robert L. Cosby Company in Courtland. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Ann M. Heafner Cosby of Courtland; one daughter, Carrie Ann Cosby Davis of Batesville; three sons, Robert L. Cosby Jr., Michael Lynn Cosby and Kevin Lee Cosby, all of Courtland; two brothers, J.W. “Bill” Cosby Jr. and Charles Cosby of Courtland; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

R.L. McIntire

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.– R.L. McIntire, 79, died Saturday, April 26, 2009.

A memorial service was held for local friends and family Sunday at New Life Church in Batesville. Rev. Kenneth Dyson and his wife Mary Newsom Dyson officiated.

McIntire, born Sept. 7, 1930, in Cleveland, to the late Fred and Letha McIntire, grew up in the Crowder area. He attended Crowder School and was a member of Goodway Pentecostal Church. He was a painter by trade.

Survivors include: his wife, Johnnie Ann; one son, Mike McIntire of West Hills, Calif.; two daughters, Judy Griffin of Ft. Worth, Texas and Donna Kirkham of California; one step-daughter, Lisa Schamer of California; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and four sisters, Maybelle Sandifer of Nettleton, Artis Sullivan of West Point, Peggy Gates of Pontotoc and Virginia Collier of Thaxton.

Jeanette Henderson Wilson

WESSON–Jeanette “Net” Henderson Wilson, 70, died Friday, May 1, 2009, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.

Services were Monday, May 4 at Sylvarena Bapitist Church where she was a member with burial in the church Cemetery.

A native of Panola County, she graduated from Batesville High School. She moved to the Brookhaven/ Wesson area in 1985.

She is the daughter of the late Oral Clifton and Dethel Henderson of Batesville, she is survived by her daughters, Jan Hutson of Wesson and Billie Culbreath of Wills Point, TX;  three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
