The North Panola Lady Cougars defeated the Lewisburg Lady Patriots 51-34 Tuesday night in district action.
North Panola head coach Chris Yancy said the score could have been higher but he got the younger players some game experience.
“That is the main thing. I want to get some time even in the tougher games to help me down the line,” Yancy said.
Yancy reports the team is doing a whole lot better gelling as a team.
“We are more focused,” he said.
The Lady Cougars (13-8 overall, 5-3 district) led 21-7 going into the second quarter. At the half they led 31-16.
North Panola outscored Lewisburg 20-18 in the second half for the win.
Brittney Patton paced the Lady Cougars with 15 points, followed by Jenisha Jackson with 12.
Other scorers include Catonya Newsom, 8 points; Shaveeta Gordon, 5 points; Nadashaney Montgomery, 3 points; and Shinese Johnson, 2 points.
The Cougar teams will host Independence tonight in district action beginning at 5 p.m. with the jr. varsity game.
