The North Delta basketball team accomplished a clean sweep of the DeSoto, Ark. Thunderbirds Monday night in district action.

The Jr. High girls had very little trouble with their opponents taking a 38-24 victory and going to 18-1 on the season. At halftime, North Delta had a 31-10 lead.

Leading scorer was Laci DuBravec with nine points and four rebounds. Katelyn Still and Jordan Pointer put up six points each, followed by Hannah Waldrip with five. Bradi Beard and Hanna Greenlee were good for four points each while Charla Shae Darby contributed three and Sarah Glenn Burkhalter scored two.

Pointer led in rebounds with six, while Beard pulled down five rebounds and led with three assists.

Jr. High Boys

The North Delta Jr. High boys introduced a very aggressive style of play that kept DeSoto on its toes and off balance throughout the first half which led to a 38-24 Green Wave win.

The Green Wave got on the boards first on a steal by Renic Greenlee followed by a basket by Bailey Guckert.

DeSoto tied the game at two with 4:38 left in the first quarter and that would be as close as they would ever get the rest of the game. The Green Wave went up 9-2 on a three-pointer and a field goal  by Guckert and two free throws by Greenlee. DeSoto scored again at the 2:19 mark but at the end of the first quarter the Green Wave led 11-4.

The game continued in that vein throughout the second quarter as the Green Wave took a 24-7 halftime lead on field goals by Sean King, Timothy Polk, Levi Garner and Jonathan Mackey, who shot a three-pointer for the final score of the first half.

Guckert and Greenlee started the second half with hot hands for the Green Wave with field goals. It was not long before head coach Brad Wilson went to his bench to give the younger players some game experience.

Luke Williams and Taylor Morris contributed to third quarter scoring. Getting some steals were Polk and Garner. Greenlee was good for a couple of blocks.

Scoring for the Green Wave were Guckert, 9 points; Garner, 6 points; Morris, Polk, Greenlee and King, 4 points each; Mackey, 3 points; Williams and Alan Larson, 2 points each.

The Green Wave bench held on for the win in the fourth quarter.
