To the editor:

I travel frequently to Batesville from Oxford.  I am saddened to see the torn, faded, shabby American flag that is being flown at the Shell station next to Lowes.  

The American flag is a symbol of our country and represents the ideals of justice, freedom, and democracy.

We need to show respect for the American flag.  When a flag is no longer serviceable, it should be destroyed by burning in a proper flag disposal ceremony.
