Jr. Lady Wave remain undefeated

The North Delta junior high girls basketball team ran their record to 3-0 on the season with a 53-35 victory over West Memphis, (Ark.) Wednesday night in the Green Wave pre-season tournament.

Four players scored in double figures to lead the Lady Wave in victory. Jordan Pointer had a game-high 13 points while freshman Bradi Beard followed with 12. Katelyn Still contributed with 11 points while Hannah Waldrip added 10 points.Hanna Greenlee and Laci DuBravec each scored four points.

North Delta jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter by hitting on a sizzling 11-of-15 shooting. Still’s three-point play and Pointer’s layup at 2:57 left in the period keyed the rally as the Green Wave took a 23-6 cushion into the second quarter.

West Memphis then went on a 11-2 run to cut the lead to 25-17 on Abbey Dixon’s three pointer, but that would be as close as the Black Knights would get on the night as North Delta extended the lead to 31-19 at halftime.

The Lady Wave shot 14-of-32 from the floor in the first half and 24-for- 52 in the game while turning the ball over 17 times. Katye Gray led West Memphis in scoring with 16 points.
