The 19th annual Sardis Antique Engine and Tractor show set for Friday night and Saturday has the town abuzz this week.

Cooler temperatures predicted for this weekend should make a comfortable setting for this year’s show held in a nicely-wooded area in the Sardis Industrial Park.

“We are expecting visitors and exhibitors from throughout the Southeast,” said Sardis Chamber of Commerce executive secretary Patty Carter.

Craft vendors and concessions will be set up both days, and the entertainment kicks off this afternoon with gospel music by the Brown family at 5 p.m.

While enjoying one of Panola County’s most musically-talented families, the Delta Street Rodders will be cooking up delicious catfish plates.

On Saturday, the activities continue at 9 a.m. with contests for children and adults. The anticipated events include the prettiest rooster, ladies’ skillet throw, and this year’s added attraction, a greased pig contest.

The show’s signature event, the tractor pull, will begin at noon.

Musical entertainment kicks off again Saturday morning with Karaoke by DJ Lott, starting at 10 a.m.

All local talent is invited to come and show off your skills! Beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday Willy Waggs will perform.

A shuttle will be available to transport attendees from the parking area to the show.

Admission is $1 on Saturday only, and children under five get in free.
