BATESVILLE– Joseph Mark Sullivan, 25, died Sunday, October 5, 2008, at his residence.
Services were Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Batesville. Rev. Pat Ludlam and Rev. Ed Woodall officiated. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery in Courtland. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Pallbearers were: Dallas Allgood, Woody Drake, Blake Shipp, Bubba Smoot, Joel Rivers, Dewayne Barmer, Clint Powers, Taylor Rivers, Catlin McArthur, Tyler Hudson and Lee Allen.
Sullivan, born Feb. 28, 1983, to Kathy Benson Sullivan of Batesville and the late Pete Sullivan, was a graduate of North Delta School and Mississippi State University with a civil engineering degree. He was a civil engineer for Pickering Engineering Firm in Jackson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Starkville, a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and National Society of Professional Engineers.
Survivors along with his mother include: two sisters, Sarah Beth Sullivan and Fisher Sullivan, both of Batesville; one brother, Nicholas Sullivan of Batesville and his grandparents, Mac and Tommie Benson of Courtland, Kay Sullivan of Wilmington, Ill. and Geneva Appleton of Batesville.
Memorials may be made to North Delta School or First United Methodist Church.
SARAH– Johnathon “Johnny” David Thacker, 39, died Tuesday, October 7, 2008, from injuries received during a house fire in Independence.
Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kevin Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sardis. Visitation is today 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Thacker, born July 16, 1969, to Mona Beth Phillips Bross of Sardis and the late Jimmy Lee Thacker Sr., was a construction worker.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Lee Thacker Jr.
Survivors along with his mother include: his wife, Windie Snowden Thacker of Little Rock; one daughter, Vickie Thacker of Little Rock; one son, J.D. Thacker of Little Rock and one sister, Melissa Davis of Starkville.
