ND Jr. High Green Wave wins district championship

The North Delta Green Wave Jr. High football team captured the District 1-1A championship last Thursday by easing past host West Memphis, Ark. 42-16 and while in the process stayed unbeaten at 5-0 on the season.

North Delta will conclude its season Thursday night by hosting Tupelo Christian in a bowl game starting at 7  p.m.

The Green Wave dominated West Memphis in every phase of the game by outgaining the Black Knights 382-165 in total yardage with 370 of that coming by way of a powerful  ground game. Chase Bruce led the way with 191 yards on only seven carries and a pair of touchdowns while Chris Rodgers added 115 yards on nine carries and three touchdowns with one coming on a 67-yard run. Rodgers left in the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury.

Quarterback Bailey Guckert chipped in with eight carries for 55 yards and one touchdown. Taylor Morris had two yards on a pair of carries. Guckert was 1-of-3 passing on the night with one interception with his only completion going to Bruce for 12 yards.
