Harold Wayne Bailey

CROWDER–Harold Wayne Bailey, 79, died Sunday, August 3, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis.

Services are Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Crowder Baptist Church. Visitation is 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Rev. Ben James and Rev. Larry Kilgore will officiate. Burial will be in Crowder Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Bailey, born June 7, 1929, to the late Victor Earl and Maggie Muirhead Bailey in Quitman County, was a farmer. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a past member of the Crowder Lion’s Club; past alderman for the town of Crowder and a member of the First Security Bank Advisory Board. He was a member of Crowder Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Elliott Bailey; two brothers, Perry Bailey and James Bailey.

Survivors include: two sons, Scott Bailey and Phil Bailey, both of Crowder; four sisters, Earline B. White and Sue B. Sutton, both of Crowder, Louise B. Wimberly of Lambert and Shirley B. Vowell of Batesville; six grandchildren, Caitlin, Carson Bailey, Hunter, Halle, Gates and Braxton Bailey and one great-grandchild, Maddox Bailey Smith.

Floyd Franklin Barger
BATESVILLE–Floyd Franklin Barger, 85, died Sunday, August, 3, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Michael Bates and Robert Rawson will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Barger, born July 23, 1923, to the late Virgil E. and Veta J. Blake Barger, in Lavinia, Tenn., was a member of The Batesville Church of Christ. He was a retired agent for Illinois Central Railroad and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Scott “Mimi” Barger.
Survivors include: one daughter, Tami J. Barger of Batesville; one son, Stanley E. Barger of Chesapeake, Va.; one granddaughter and one great-great-grandson.

James Russell Green

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.–James Russell Green, 63, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan.

Services were Tuesday, July 26, 2008, in Frontenac, Kan. Bath-Maylor Funeral Home had charge.

Green, born Nov. 21, 1945, in Water Valley, to the late Lee Russell Green and the late Margie Blaker Green Gant, was a retired mechanic.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Green Harrison.

Survivors include: four sons, John and Buckey Green of Water Valley, Rusty Green of Joplin, Mo. and Kevin Green of Pittsburg; three daughters, Donna Ragon of Water Valley, Becky Green and Emily Green, both of Pittsburg; one brother, William “Bill” Davis Jr. of Batesville; six sisters, Mary Jane McGregory and Betty Sue Tutor, both of Batesville, Bonnie Bailey of Enid, Connie Lambert of Melbourne, Fla., Jenice Davis of Fort Walton, Fla. and Shelby Green Price of Millport, Ala. and seven grandchildren.

Jimmie Faye Hill

MEMPHIS–Jimmie Faye Hill, 75, died July 30, 2008, in Marks. She has numerous relatives in Panola County.

Services were Saturday at Forest Hill South. Entombment was in Forest Hill South Cemetery.

Hill was a member of First Baptist Church in Southaven.

She is survived by her daughter, Jewell Yeager of Memphis; son, Ricky Terry of Darling; sisters, Geneva Tharp of Rogers, Ark. and Betty Granberry of Houston, Texas and three grandchildren

Joy Smythe Stone

BATESVILLE– Joy Smythe Stone, 82, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at her residence.

Memorial services were Sunday at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Pat Ludlam and Roger Richards officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Stone, born Jan. 12, 1926, to the late Claude and Eva Smythe, was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was also a member of the Explorer Bible Study and the Pan Gens Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dr. John P. Stone.

Survivors include: three daughters, Susan Tuggle of Athens, Ga.; Amy Florence of Courtland and Sally Freeny of Oxford; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 119 Panola Ave., Batesville.

Tyrone Stewart

COMO– Tyrone Stewart, 49, died Saturday, July 30, 2008.

Services were Monday at Simon Chapel No. 2 Baptist Church in Como. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater had charge.

Stewart was a plumber.
