With the completion of the South Panola playing field, team members got a workout on the new field for the first time Tuesday morning. The backup quarterbacks were at work throwing the ball to a point about 25 yards away. South Panola head football coach Lance Pogue has announced the game against Apopka, Fla. will be played on Friday, September 19. He is waiting to hear specifics about a the game being televised and expects an answer after the July 4 holiday.

South Panola head baseball coach Patrick Robey has announced Ethan Bright has made a verbal commitment to play baseball at Mississippi State University next year.

Bright just finished a tryout for 18 and under Team USA in Wilmonton, N.C. He was one of only three Missisippians invited to tryout. He did not make the team as only 18 of 300 were chosen.

After the fourth, Tiger Mitchel Babb has been invited to try out for the 14 and under  Team USA in Jackson.

In All-Star news, Tyler Benson started as second baseman for the North Team on June 7, which was coached by Robey. He was one of two off East Central pitcher Byrd. He was one of only two people who hit off Byrd.

The summer baseball team only has one game left to play. Tuesday, they will host Mississippi Sox. Desoto Central canceled the Thursday game.

SP Lady Tiger Books

Orders for the South Panola Lady Tiger book will be taken until 9 a.m. Monday morning. The books will be ordered Monday.

The books are on sale at 2 for $49.94 plus tax for a total of $53.45. Payment accepted by cash, money order, credit card and online by Paypal.

The Panolian has extra South Panola Tiger football commemorative books for sale. They will remain on sale through July 31 at 2 for $49.94 plus tax.

The Panolian is planning an autograph session for the Tiger book and the Lady Tiger book if it is back. The date will be announced next week.
