Batesville lines up sponsors,  musicians for July 4th show

Batesville’s second annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration at the civic center will culminate an afternoon of indoor and outdoor activities both, Center Director Roy Hyde said.

Activity begins at 2 p.m. with the Nationwide Motorsports Truck Pull in the center’s main arena. Tickets information is available by calling the Civic Center at 563-1392 or online at www.batesvilleciviccenter-ms.com.

Outside activities will begin at 4:30 p.m. with rock wall climbing, inflatables and monster truck rides. Food and beverage vendors, including Tango’s Barbecue, will also be on hand, Hyde said.

Entertainment starts at 5:30 with Jason Adams and the Southern Country Band.

The Billy Grantham Band will follow from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and Electric Rodeo will begin playing at 8:30 p.m, leading up to the fireworks display at 10 p.m.

The city’s first fireworks show last year attracted large crowds both to the civic center grounds and to adjacent parking lots. Mayor Jerry Autrey solicited underwriting from Batesville businesses to pay for the fireworks.

A Fourth of July fireworks display had been one of his pet project ambitions since his 2005 election, he said.

Sponsors include First Security Bank, Covenant Bank, BancorpSouth, Country 101 WBLE Radio, Tractor Supply Company, Q93.7 Radio, Budweiser and The Panolian.
