Davis’ appearance will come a day before 1st District voters go to the polls in a run-off election to fill the House seat vacated by Wicker, who was appointed by Barbour to the U.S. Senate seat.

Davis is locked in a tight race with Democrat Travis Childers, a chancery clerk from Prentiss County. Davis is mayor of Southaven and previously served in the state legislature.

Vice President Dick Cheney is set to appear at the DeSoto Civic Center Monday afternoon to rally support for Davis. That event is open to the public but requires an RSVP.

In Panola County, only 2,115 voters turned out on April 22. Davis won the county by a single vote but Childers barely missed securing enough votes to win the open seat.

Davis is also making campaign stops in Oxford and Tupelo Monday.
