Calvin Lee Campbell

BATESVILLE–Calvin Lee Campbell, 57, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were Wednesday at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Vickie Brown officiated. Burial was in Rock Hill Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Campbell, born March 2, 1951, in Sardis, to the late Alice Mae Ellis, was a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Melanie Robinson of Batesville; one son, Patrick Robinson of Batesville; three sisters, Mable Trantham of Courtland, Dosie Andrew of Batesville and Clara Reed of Milwaukee, Wis.; one brother, Wesley Ellis of Batesville and 10 grandchildren.


Mary Lucille Farris

BATESVILLE–Mary Lucille Farris, 94, died Thursday, April 17, 2008.

Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be noon – 2 p.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Home. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Ira Johnson

BATESVILLE–Ira Johnson, 86, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. At Concord M.B. Church. Pastor Edward Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be today 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary and Saturday 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Concord M.B. Church. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Johnson, born Jan. 1, 1922, in Como, to the late Charlie Johnson and the late Georgia Ell Jackson Johnson, was a farmer and member of Mt. Moriah C.M.E. Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include: five daughters, Joe Ella Giles of Chicago, Ira Lee Johnson of Milwaukee, Wis., Georgia Brown, Carolyn Johnson Smith and Adrey Johnson Logan, all of Batesville; two sons, Charles Johnson of Courtland and Murray Johnson of Batesville; six sisters, Rosetta Murphy, Zelma Scott, Charlie Mae Gaddis, Doris Ella Johnson and Mary Earline Johnson, all of Chicago and Myra Johnson of Batesville; one brother, Climmie Johnson of Chicago; 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

 

Donna Gullick Land

BATESVILLE–Donna Gullick Land, 53, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Pat Ludlam, Rev. Clay Baker and Rev. Gary Richardson officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Land, born Jan. 22, 1955, in Bruce, to Rabon and Jo Shoemake Gullick of Oxford, was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Chancel Choir.

She was a special education teacher for the North Panola school system. She graduated from University of Mississippi She taught school for the Quitman County school system, South Panola school system, Prentis County school system, Booneville County school system, North Delta School and North Panola.

Survivors along with her parents include: her husband, Wayne Land of Batesville; one son, Leslie “Les” Land of Batesville; one sister, Gay Gullick Kahane and husband, Peter of Franklin, Tenn.; and one niece, Sara Emma Kahane of Franklin, Tenn.

Muriel Virginia Buchanan “Peggy” Hitchcock

BATESVILLE–Muriel Virginia Buchanan “Peggy” Hitchcock, 77, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park,  Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Hitchcock, born April 21, 1930, in Chicksaw County, to the late Fred H. and Nora Bell Morphis Buchanan, was a retired clerk and a member of Taylor Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Allen Hitchcock.
Survivors include: one daughter, Patricia Gail Hitchcock McCoy of Batesville; one son, Donald Wade Hitchcock of Columbus; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

 
Willie Tyrone Love

COURTLAND–Willie Tyrone Love, 43, died Monday, April 14, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center.

Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh M.B. Church in Courtland. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Pastor Carl Brown will officiate. Visitation is today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Love, born July 10, 1964, in Batesville, to Betty Jean Lester Love of Batesville and the late Willie Lynwood Love, was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church in Courtland.

Survivors along with his mother include:  his grandmother, Luxie Mae Parker of Courtland; his grandfather, Henry Winston of St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Beverly Shannon of Enid, Janet Draper and Katrina Connor, both of Batesville; four brothers, Micheal Christon and Archie Love, both of Batesville, Anthony Love of Courtland, Eric Love of Memphis and his companion, Mattie Kuykendall of Batesville.


Willard Price Naramore

COURTLAND–Willard Price Naramore, 65, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Frank Samples and Pastor Michael Bondora will officiate. Visitation will be  today 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in New El Bethel Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home has charge.

Naramore, born in Lafayette, was a Baptist. He was the former head inspector with Thermos Manufacturing Company.

Survivors include: his wife, Lisa Diane McDonald Naramore of Courtland; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Hamner of Bartlett, Tenn. and Valerie Jean Bondora of Yuma, Ariz.; one son, Willard “Billy” Price Naramore Jr. of Coldwater; one sister, Hazel Harwell of Water Valley; three brothers, L.L. “Buck” Naramore of Grenada, Floyd Naramore of Water Valley and Wallace Naramore of Courtland; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
