Football news alert for avid fans!!!
The Desoto Times is announcing the Olive Branch Conquistadors are stepping outside the zone – uh, “are taking their football team to the next level.”
On August 30, the Quistors will take on Pahokee, Fla., a national top 10 ranked team.
They will play in the NIKE Football Kickoff Classic on the campus of Florida International University to be televised on ESPN.
Another game to be played is between Long Beach, Calif. Poly vs. Booker T. Washington of Miami.
The Quistors will also be putting in a new turf for the upcoming season. South Panola is scheduled to play Olive Branch in Olive Branch October 3.
South Panola will host Apopka, Fla. in a possible ESPN game on either September 18 or 19. The date has not been permanently set.
The newly formed South Panola Athletic Foundation is leading the charge to put new turf on the South Panola football field.
The community is welcomed to take part in this project as the new field will benefit the whole community and not just the football team.
A corrected number for Kenny Hopper is (662) 563-4504 for questions about the Foundation. Or fill out the accompanying pledge form on B10 and mail it in.
South Panola will start spring practice on Thursday, April 24 and play a spring game at Lafayette on Tuesday, May 13.
