BATESVILLE–Pauline Goode Crouch, 89, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at her daughter’s residence in Oxford.

Services were Saturday at Dickins Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Sappington officiated. Burial was in Pisgah Cemetery in Batesville. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Crouch was born Sept. 26, 1918, to the late Tommy Floyd Goode and Leslie Still Goode.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Crouch and one son, Ronnie Crouch.

Survivors include: one daughter, Bessie Varner Livingston of Oxford; three sons, Bobby L. Crouch of Saltillo, Jimmy R. Crouch of Pontotoc and Charles W. Crouch of Batesville; one brother, James Goode of Memphis; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

BATESVILLE–Bobby Lynn Hamilton, 51, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were Monday at St. Peter M.B. Church in Sardis. Pastor Odell Draper Jr. officiated. Burial was in St. Peter Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Hamilton, born Oct. 1, 1956, in Batesville, to the late Ed Wiley Hamilton and the late Fannie Faucet, was an equipment operator for Mississippi Department of Transportation. He was a member of St. Peter M.B. Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Shari Hamilton of Batesville; one son, Kendrick Divon Rudd of Davenport, Iowa; a grandson whom he raised, Adrevious C. Booker of Batesville; two sisters, Bertha Boyd and Jennie Hamilton, both of Memphis; four brothers, Elijah Hamilton of Batesville, L.T. Hamilton of Memphis, Lewis T. Hamilton of Germany and Riley Jones of Chicago and two grandchildren.

BATESVILLE–Samuel Shane “Sam” Howard, 32, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, from injuries attained in an ATV accident in Jacksonville, Texas.

Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Howard, born May 19, 1975, in Memphis, to Jimmy Scates of Dallas, Texas and the late Joy Lynn Howard-Rikard, attended South Panola Schools. He enjoyed hunting, motorcycles and four-wheelers. He was employed for 13 years at Tyler Refrigeration in Olive Branch. He was a member of Black Jack Baptist Church, assisting in several projects including the installation of the new steeple.

Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by his  grandparents, Lillie Mae and Charles Darden Howard of Batesville and Major Scates and Nina Scates Warren of Lexington, Tenn.

Survivors along with his father include: his step-mother, Pat Scates of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Jimmy Shannon Howard and wife, Deanne of Ft. Hood, Texas and Christopher Scott Howard and wife, Millie of Dallas, Texas; one aunt, Darlene Howard Redmon of Mt. Dora, Fla.; one uncle, Danny Scates of Lexington, Tenn.; one great-uncle, Walton Wilson of Dallas, Texas; his grandfather, George Warren of Dallas, Texas; three nephews, Garrett and Cort Howard of Ft. Hood, Texas and Noah Howard of Dallas, Texas, numerous cousins, Lee Collins Redmon IV of Mt. Dora, Fla., Richy Lance Howard of Atlanta, Mitzy Dawn and Robert, Dustin, and Felicity Buske of Munford, Tenn. and Andy Scates of Lexington, Tenn.

POPE– Frank W. Lipe,92, died Saturday April 5, 2008, of heart failure in Whitfield.

Visitation will be held today  5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Services are Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Born and raised in Pope, Mr Lipe was known for his love of music and his talent with many instruments, even having written hymns and songs of inspiration. He was the last of three brothers, Wirt Lipe and Joe Lipe, also from Pope. Mr Lipe leaves behind his niece Peggy (Lipe) Murphree of Pope, two great nephews, Bill Murphree of Bowling Green, Ky. and Joe Murphree of Tallahassee Fla., and his great-great-nephew Joseph Murphree, also of Tallahassee.

OXFORD–Charles Earl McCord, 88, formerly of Lewisburg, died Friday, March 28, 2008, at the VA Nursing Home in Oxford.

Graveside services were Sunday, March 30, 2008, at Lone Oak Cemetery. London Funeral Home had charge. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of local arrangements.

McCord, the son of the late Merrill F. Sr. and Lillie Sue Scott McCord, was a native of Bryant Station Community an. He served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII in the Western Pacific. He was retired from Walker Die Casting, was a member of the Church of Christ, American Legion and Mason.

Survivors include: two daughters, Deborah Mitchell of Batesville and Connie Moore of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Edna Huff and Jean Crook, both of Indiana; three brothers, Wayne McCord of Columbia, Tenn., Paul McCord of Maryland and Ray Thomas McCord of Lewisburg; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

LONGTOWN–Larry E. Willard, 59, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at his residence.

Services are today at Crenshaw Baptist Church. Burial will be in Longtown Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home has charge.

Survivors include: his wife, Cynthia Willard of Longtown; two daughters, Tanya Lynn Willard Bah of Longtown and Cynthia Lynn Willard Seitz of Arkabutla; two sons, Nicholas Grant Willard and James Adam Willard, both of Longtown; his mother, Mary Ellen Willard of Crenshaw; three sisters, Carol Stephens of Longtown, Sherry Burkes of Sardis and Cathy Bolen of Crenshaw; three brothers, Tony Willard of Strayhorn, Danny Willard of Longtown and Jerry Willard of Hitchcliff and 12 grandchildren.
