Kevin D. Cooper

CROWDER–Kevin D. Cooper, 32, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Services were Sunday at the Batesville Junior High School Auditorium. Minister James Wright officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Crowder. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Cooper, born Feb. 20, 1976, in Marks, to Calvin Williams of McComb, Ill. and Patricia Cooper Burnette of Crowder, graduated from South Panola High School, Northwest Mississippi Jr. College and Mississippi State University, where he played football. He was a project manager for recreational development and a former professional football player. He played for the Minnesota Vikings, Memphis XPlorers and the indoor football league Tupelo Fire Ants. He was a member of New Bethel M.B. Church.

Survivors along with his mother and father, include: one daughter, Kyla Rudd of Batesville; one son, Tyler Rudd of Batesville; one brother, Antonio Burnette of Crowder and three sisters, Malena Joiner of Japan, Tiffany Pryor and Jennifer O’Neal, both of Lambert.


Lynn Alyn Rhodes

SNELLVILLE, Ga.–Lynn Alyn Rhodes, 50, formerly of Pope, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be today 11 a.m. until service time at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Rhodes was born April 13, 1957, in Memphis. He was a commercial construction project manager and served as a marine during Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sol Rhodes.

Survivors include: one daughter, Amy Rhodes-Tumlin of Monroe, Ga.; one brother, Robert Dale Rhodes of Florida; his mother, Barbara Joyce Hope Ward of Pope and one granddaughter, Brooklyn Paige Rhodes of Monroe, Ga.

The family requests that memorials be made to The Brooklyn Rhodes College Fund, c/o The Community Bank, P.O. Box 188, Loganville, Ga. 30078.

Louise Smith

BATESVILLE–Louise Smith, 98, died Friday, March 28, 2008, at Fairfield.

Services were Monday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Smith, born Jan. 23, 1910, in Batesville, to the late John and Carie Lemaster, was a member of First Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Huron Smith.

Survivors include: one son, Don Smith and wife, Rhandy of Batesville and one granddaughter, Summer Louise Smith of Dallas, Texas.

The family requests that any memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund of Batesville.
