BATESVILLE–Dow “Tyke” Bridges, 44, died Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were Saturday at Crowder Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Kilgore and Rev. Jerry Hill officiated. Burial was in Crowder Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Bridges was born June 16, 1963, to Rita Little Young of Courtland and  the late Dow Roger Bridges.

Survivors along with his mother include: one daughter, Nina Ragon of Batesville; one brother, Lucian Young of Batesville;  his step-father, Frankie Lee Young of Courtland and one granddaughter.

SENATOBIA–Teresa A. Geter, 41, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at her residence.

Services were Wednesday at Featherston Chample A.M.E. Church. Burial was in Freespring Cemetery in Como. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.

Geter was a member of Featherston Chapel A.M.E. Church and on the usher board. She was also a factory worker.

Survivors include: two daughters, Janice M. Geter and Samantha L. Geter, both of Senatobia; eight sisters, Louise Virgel of Como, Alice Cole and  Annie Geter, both of Tupelo, Annette Plair of Senatobia, Annie B. Plair, Mae Frances Plair, Mae Ida Plair and Lue Ella Plair, of Flint Mich.; five brothers, Allen Plair of Senatobia, Walter Johnson of Southaven, Wallace Johnson of Memphis, Joe Lee Plair and Alex Plair Jr. of Flint, Mich.

OXFORD–Mary Eloise Finch Gray, 86, a retired clerk with Guy’s Tuxedo, died Friday,  March 21, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Panola County.

Services were Monday at Anchor Baptist Church. Rev.  Gerald Shook officiated. Burial was in Oxford Memorial  Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home had charge.

 Gray was a member of Anchor  Baptist Church and a former member of Temple Heights Baptist Church where  she worked with the International Students Outreach Program.  For many  years she taught a Sunday School class at Graceland Care Center.  Mrs.  Gray formerly worked as a clerk at Fred’s Discount Store.  

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert  Nathaniel Gray.  

Survivors include: two daughters, Stephany Cox of Water Valley and Euphiazene Gray of Oxford and one  son, Arthur Gray of Water Valley.

MARKS–Lewis Adolphus Graeber Jr., 92, died Saturday, March 22, 2008. Mr. Graeber, his brother, the late James Peyton Graeber and their father founded Graeber Brothers Inc. in 1937.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at the Marks Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.

Graeber, born, March 28, 1915, to the late Lewis Adolphus Graeber and Neva Grafton Graeber, was educated in the Marks public schools and Southwestern at Memphis (now Rhodes College). He served in the Navy during WWII and was stationed at Pearl Harbor. He was discharged a Lieutenant Commander.

Graeber’s board memberships included: the National Propane Gas Association; the Mississippi LP Gas Association, being elected president twice; French Camp Academy; Belhaven College; LeBonheur Children’s Hospital; Mississippi Safety Council; Mississippi Economic Council; Alderman of the City of Marks; Quitman County Planning Commission; Delta Area Council of Boys Scouts of America, receiving the Silver Beaver Award.

Graeber was the cofounder and trustee of the Graeber Foundation. He was a trustee of the Cassidy Foundation, and founder and trustee of the First Marks Cemetery Association.

He was a past president of the Clarksdale Country Club and retired member of the University Club of Memphis.

Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Frances Clark Graeber; one daughter, Geri Graeber Pitts of Memphis; three sons, Lewis Adolphus Graeber III of Jackson, John Clark Graeber and William Mims Graeber, both of Marks; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Aleene Graeber Clark of Lauderdale and one brother, Henry Grafton Graeber of Oxford.

Memorials may be made to Delta Academy, P.O. Box 70, Marks, Miss. 38646, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

SHADY COVE, Ore.–Jean Eva Mae Townsend, 74, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

Services were Monday at Batesville First Assembly. Burial was in Bethal Baptist Church Cemetery. Raymond Pasley officiated. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors include: three sons, Robert Ragan, William Brannen and Donald Brannen; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
