Elizabeth Rowsey Tullos Davis

CONWAY, Ark.–Elizabeth Rowsey Tullos Davis, 90, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Conway Regional Medical Center. She was the mother of Carole Davis Land and Kem V. Davis, both of Batesville.

Services were Wednesday in Lee Chapel at the First Baptist Church. Dr. David Ball officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Davis, born Jan. 7, 1918, in Panola County, to the late Victor D. and Sarah Elizabeth Collier Rowsey, was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Estus A. Tullos and Leland P. Davis and two grandchildren, Patricia Henson Word and Vic Davis.

Survivors along with her daughter and son include: three daughters, Diane Tullos Lewis of Ocean City, Md., Betsy Davis Carver of Conway, Ark., Louann Davis Tully of Boynton Beach, Fla.; one sister, Martha Dale Rowsey Odom of Batesville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Batesville or Soaring Wings Ranch, Box 1670, Conway, Ark., 72033.

David Miles

BATESVILLE.–David Miles, 65, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at his residence.

Services are today at noon at Sardis Lake Baptist Church. Rev. Kevin Crofford will officiate. Visitation will be today 10 a.m. until service time at Sardis Lake Baptist Church. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Miles, born May 23, 1942, to the late William Samuel “Pete” and Bertha Lee Snider Miles, was a member of Sardis Lake Baptist Church. He was the retired owner/operator of Crackmaster Windshield Repair Service and was employed with the Mississippi Department of Transportation as a guard.

Survivors include: his wife, Vera Ann Adams Miles of Batesville; one daughter, Betty Ann Ables Young of Sardis; one son, Bob Ables of Seymour, Tenn.; one sister, Brenda Miles Keith of Clarksdale; two brothers, William “Sammy” Miles of Oilton, Okla. and Terry Lee Miles of Alexandria, Va.; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.


James Lewis Thompson

SARDIS–James Lewis Thompson, 67, died Monday, March 10, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services were Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home. Hal Johnson offiiciated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Thompson, born March 1, 1941, in Panola County, to the late Carl and Lillie Johnson Thompson, was a retired truck driver for Freeman Truck Lines.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Ann Walls Thompson of Sardis; two sons, James L. “Bo” Thompson Jr. of Winona and Kenny E. Thompson of Sardis; one brother, Carl Thompson Jr. of Sardis and three grandchildren.


Martha Faye Wimberly

CLARKSDALE–Martha Faye Wimberly, 69, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at her residence. She was the sister of W.A. Allgood of Batesville.

Services are Sunday at 2 p.m. At National Funeral Chapel in Clarksdake. Rev. Carl Johnston will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at National Funeral Home. National Funeral Home has charge.

Wimberly, born June 24, 1938, to the late Annie Bell Yates and the late Alvin Allgood, was a retired meat department employee for Harvest Foods Grocery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee W. Wimberly.

Survivors along with her brother, include: her mother, Annie Belle Yates of Palestine, Texas; two sons, Terry Wimberly and Toney Wimberly, both of Clarksdale; two sisters, Patsy Jolly of Palestine, Texas and Betty Duiguid of Godfrey, Ill.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
