Lady Tigers prepare to defend state title

By Myra Bean
There is a lot of anticipation and expectations for the South Panola High School Lady Tiger fastpitch softball team this year.
Rightly so after the Lady Tigers posted a first ever 31-4 state championship season.
“Last year they did not have a lot of pressure because no one expected anything,” said Lady Tiger head coach Ashleigh Hicks.

North Delta looks to build on playoff year

By Angie Ledbetter
The North Delta Green Wave baseball season may not start until two weeks but the team started practice several weeks ago with some senior leadership.
“We will be blessed with some experience from last year’s playoff team with some guys who helped us in different areas,” said Head Coach David Hardy. “We do have four returning seniors from last year’s team that all contributed in some form or another.”

Tigers return host of depth around the diamond

By Brad Greer
With six starters returning along with a  deep pitching staff, the South Panola Tiger baseball team will be looking to make some noise in Region 2- 5A this season after going 19-8 in 2007 while just missing out on the playoffs.
“We only  lost three seniors last year and I feel like this team is a lot more hungry this season after missing the playoffs by one game. The kids have been working hard and are ready to get started. We feel like we are overall going to be better than last season. We feel good about our pitching rotation that can go about five deep so I feel like we’ve got some guys that can throw strikes.” said sixth-year head coach Patrick Robey.
