The Green Wave Jr high boys continued winning hoops on Friday night, January 18 by defeating one of their district rivals, Marvell, Arkansas, by a score of 57-38 and remained undefeated in district action and overall in their season.

This game was a little bit different from their last game when they only won by one point.

“B” Nickle scored a game high 24 points for the junior high Green Wave team.

Corbin Baker scored 11 points to help his team

Coach Brad Wilson said this game was a big win.

“Our last game with Desoto was real close,” he said. “I told the boys previously that from here on out all the games were going to be hard.

”Nickle had a big night for us, putting up 24 points,” said Wilson. “Jim Tom Copeland and Tres Brasell did an excellent job around the board, rebounding and putting back up. Michael Magee and Matthew Barefoot came in and did a great job with the stops and got a couple of good jump ball possessions to go in our favor. Corbin Baker was hitting some threes. It was good to see him get some shots. I was real proud of the boys. It was a 19 point win, but Marvell is going to be good next year.”

Tonight we had 28 points at halftime. My boys trailed the whole game until we tied it up with less than one minute to go in the game. Nickle hit two key free throws to tie it 30-30.. I was real proud of the boys, they showed a lot of character.”

The Green Wave junior high boys beat them by eight points the last time that they played Tunica.

Wilson was expecting it to be a lot different ballgame last night. “It is going to be a hard fought game with Tunica,” said Wilson. “I think that we are up for the challenge. Tunica was in second place up to last Friday night because they had beat Desoto by one and I don’t know the outcome of that game.”

The Green Wave junior high will play Delta again and West Memphis and then they will know more about where they are seated in the district.
