“We finally woke up in the second half,” Lady Tiger head coach Ralph Stallings said.

South Panola was down 30-27 at halftime.

The Lady Tigers had been scoring in the 40-point range the last few games so Stallings was glad to see the team scoring back in the upper 60s.

“The press worked finally,” he said. “We were able to force turnovers and make scores off the turnovers.”

Eight Lady Tigers scored for the win with three in double figures, led by Sabrina Townsend with 29 points. Skylar Barnes and Vetorra Cole added 11 points each.

“We were more balanced in our scoring,” Stallings said. “We got some nice points out of several others.”

Also scoring for the Lady Tigers were Essie Thomas, 8 points; Chasity Kearney, 4 points; Monteith Brewer, 2 points; Stalisha Draper and Dorian Winfield, 1 point each.

Grenada was led in scoring by Breanna Pittman with 13 points.

After halftime, the Lady Tigers took a 41-38 lead at the end of the third quarter. They exploded in the final quarter scoring 24 points and limiting Grenada to 14.

The Lady Tigers will have their hands full tonight with the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets tonight. Both teams have lost to Columbus coming into this district matchup. Tipoff is 6 p.m.
