Vet’s advocate urges scrutiny of Wicker’s support for veterans

I have mixed feelings concerning the selection of Congressman Roger Wicker for interim Senator and his run for the office. Congressman Wicker had an excellent Veteran’s Aide, Bubba Lollar, working in the Tupelo Office. I never called Bubba that he wasn’t ready to help me with a veteran whom I was helping.

Congressman Wicker’s Internet homepage states: The Congressman is a member of the Defense Subcommittee and in 2007 was named ranking minority member of the Military Construction/ VA Subcommittee.

As the top Republican on the panel, his responsibilities encompass helping fund wide-ranging activities affecting veterans including health care, construction of VA health facilities, pensions, and benefits as well as military construction projects in the U.S. and around the world.

I have researched Congressman Wicker’s sponsorship of Veterans and Disabled Veterans Bills on the DAV site. It provides very important information to veterans, disabled veterans and their families on Wicker’s record as a Congressman.

This may help to see why there has been so much in the news about the treatment of disabled vets.

Based on this information on the DAV site, Wicker is not shown to be veteran-friendly. As a veteran’s advocate, I cannot at this time support his run for Senator.

I would encourage all veterans to check his record on the DAV Internet page and make a decision if he would be a veteran-friendly Senator: DAV site: capwiz.com/dav/bio/sponsortrack/?id=343
