BATESVILLE – Jiles Elliott Crouch, 85, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi.

Services will be Friday, December 14 at 11 a.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Jay Anderson will officiate.

Crouch, born July 21, 1922, in Courtland to James Monroe Crouch and Edna D. Bankston Crouch, was retired from the Mississippi Forestry Commission. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher for Adult Men’s Class.

Crouch was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jiles William Crouch, brothers James W. Crouch, Louis Monroe Crouch, and Edward Ray Crouch, and sister Clara Delean Murphy.

 Survivors along with his wife, Annie Lee Barnes Crouch of Batesville, include daughters Joyce Ann Lawson, Carolyn Dee Perkins, Janice Nell Browning, and Cherry Lynn Craven of Batesville and Judy Cerise Bennett of Tipton, Oklahoma; brother Walter Eugene Crouch of Batesville, and sister Mary Lucille Inman of Athens, Alabama; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 5033 Pope – Water Valley Road, Pope MS 38658.

SARDIS – Thomas Junior Madison, 80, died Sunday, December 9, 2007, at his home in Sardis.

Services were Tuesday, December 11 at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery. Rev. Charlie Simmons and Rev. Terry Trimble officiated.

Madison, born April 3, 1927, in Quitman County, was a Seaman 1st Class in the U. S. Navy in WWII and in the Korean War.     He was a retired farmer and employee of Emhart.

Survivors along with his wife Gwendolyn Cox Madison are sons Tommy Junior Madison, Lawrence David Madison and Ronald Dean Madison, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Kimbro Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

COURTLAND – Annie Pearl Miles, 67, died Sunday, December 9, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi.

Services are Saturday, December 15 at 2 p. m. at  Johnson Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church in Courtland. Rev. Warren Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Cooley’s Mortuary and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church.

 Miles, born April 10, 1940, in Courtland to Willie Harrison and Fannie Todd, Miles was a housewife. She was a member of Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.

 Miles was preceded in death by her husband G. D. “Buddy” Miles of Courtland. Survivors include daughters Margaret Odhiambo and Linda Sullivan of Batesville, Bobbie Ann McMurry, Tina Houston, Lizzie Ann Turner, and Brenda Goss of Courtland; sons James Miles, Stacy Miles, George Miles, and Todd Miles of Courtland; 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

BATESVILLE – James Porter, 68, died Monday, December 10, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi.

Services are Saturday, December 15 at 11  a. m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Bural will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Harlem Harris will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday from 11 a. m. to 6 p. m. at Cooley’s Mortuary.

Porter, born February 28, 1934, in Sardis to Frank and Gerlor Hill Porter, was a farmer. He was a member of Morris Chapel M. B. Church in Sardis.

Survivors include sisters Queen Ester Norwood, Betty Jean Henderson, Linda House, and Gertrude Smith of Batesville, Georgia Watson of Sardis, and Dorothy Henderson of Waterloo, Iowa.

LAMBERT – Harry Stephens Wimberly, 85, of Lambert died Friday, December 7, 2007, at Baptist De Soto Hospital in Southaven.

Services were Monday, December 10 at First Baptist Church in Lambert. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery.

 Wimberly was the son of the later Alfred and Belle Wimberly of Lambert. He was preceded in death by his grandson Brandon Bailey Bennett of Yazoo City, five brothers, and one sister. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lambert, a WWII veteran, a retired farmer, and had also retired from Archer Daniels Midland Company.  

Survivors along with his wife Louise Bailey Wimberly are daughters Connie Moore of Southaven, Anita Bennett of Yazoo City, and Miriam Joslin of Pace, Florida; sons Steve Wimberly of Germantown, Tennessee, and David Wimberly of Jackson; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Riales and Marie Laxton of Memphis, and a host of other relatives and friends.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requested that memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Lambert or to a charity of one’s choice.

BOONEVILLE – Hazel Gann Windham, 88, died Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Funeral services were Thursday, December 13 at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel in Booneville. Burial was in Booneville Cemetery. Bro. Kevin Crofford and Bro. Mike Fields officiated.

Windham was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Smith Windham. She was a member of Locke Station Baptist Church in Marks.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Johnson of Booneville and a son, Paul Hayden Windham and wife Maria of Batesville; sisters Sue Caldwell of Booneville, Eloise Robertson of Osceola, Arkansas, and Mary Nell Rodgers of Zolfo Springs, Florida; brothers Clyde Gann and Robert Stanley Gann of Booneville; 2 grandchildren, Jill McNeely and husband Keith of Iuka and Cayce Johnson of Booneville; 5 great-grandchildren, Madison Norton, Marlena Norton, Mallory Norton, Will McNeely, and Chet McNeely.
